Two individuals were seen taking a trolley from a shopping centre parking lot in Farrarmere overnight. Officers recovered and returned the item.

What happened

During the overnight hours of 8 July 2026, control room operators monitoring

camera feeds in Farrarmere observed two individuals removing a trolley from

the open parking lot of a retail shopping centre.

CMS response

The control room dispatched response officers to the scene. Officers located

the two individuals, recovered the trolley, and escorted it back to the

premises. The client was notified immediately and elected not to attend the

scene or involve SAPS. The individuals were instructed to vacate the area,

and response officers were tasked with enhanced visibility patrols around

the centre for the remainder of the shift.

Outcome

The stolen property was recovered in full and returned to the business. No

damage was reported and no further incidents occurred in the area overnight.

Community guidance

This recovery shows the value of live camera monitoring paired with a rapid

ground response. Businesses in Farrarmere and surrounding areas are

encouraged to keep parking areas well lit and to report suspicious activity

in and around retail premises to the CMS control room — early reporting is

what makes recoveries like this possible.
