What happened

In the early hours of Friday 3 July, the CMS control room received an alarm activation from a residential property in Farrarmere. Armed response was dispatched immediately and was on scene within minutes. Two suspects had gained access to the property by bypassing the driveway gate motor and fled on foot as the response vehicle arrived.

CMS response

The responding officer secured the property, confirmed the residents were unharmed, and remained on scene while SAPS was contacted. A case has been opened and CMS has provided its incident documentation to the investigating officer.

Community guidance

Gate motors remain one of the most common entry points in residential incidents. Residents are encouraged to fit an anti-lift bracket and cage to the gate motor, and to test alarm zones covering the driveway monthly.
